the marker:
my aim for this marker was to incorporate the prominent multiculturalism of the area of Blacktown, a relationship to the parks' sustainability and create an impressive sight along the M7 highway.
i chose the colours of the aboriginal flag to adorn my marker to acknowledge the aboriginal land which the land which the sports park is based.
the form of my building is composed of two tall white blocks of concrete bolted into the ground. they are parallel and together with the other 4 unique blocks form the marker.
from an aerial view, the square in the centre of the building forms a metaphor for the parks' sustainability and solar access. at midday, the sun will shine straight through the four unique walls and light up the centre of the marker.
the green colour symbolises nature and the parks sustainability also.
together the four unique walls forms the marker, which is 40 metres tall and can be recognised and seen from the M7 highway, introducing the Blacktown International Sports Park.
